Summary & Highlights

The Pacific Coast Whitetail Deer of Jalisco are one of Mexico's most unique and challenging whitetail subspecies. Adapted to the rugged Pacific slopes and tropical dry forests, these deer are smaller-bodied than their northern cousins but carry distinctive, dark-horned racks with excellent character. Mature bucks average between 90–110 B&C, and outstanding trophies exceeding that mark are taken every season.

Hunting them in Jalisco is a true adventure, with the terrain ranging from thorn scrub and lowland jungles to rugged foothills and canyons. The thick cover and broken country make glassing difficult, and success often comes down to patience, sharp observation, and quick shooting when an opportunity arises. Mature bucks are extremely wary and rely on the heavy brush to stay concealed, earning them a reputation as some of the most elusive whitetails in Mexico.

The rut occurs later than in northern Mexico, typically starting in late September and peaking through October, when bucks are most active and aggressive. During this time, hunters will see bucks chasing does and covering ground in search of receptive females. This window is considered prime time for pursuing the biggest trophies of the season.

Hunting methods include a mix of spot-and-stalk, still-hunting, and ground blinds set up along feeding areas, waterholes, and travel corridors.

Beyond the hunting, the accommodations and services on this beautiful and luxurious lodge are first class. Plus Jalisco offers a rich cultural backdrop — with its ranching traditions, authentic cuisine, and the vibrant charm of Mexico's Pacific Coast. The combination of world-class hunting and cultural immersion makes this hunt as memorable as the trophy itself.
