Summary & Highlights

The Crooki Mule Deer of Coahuila, which some categorize as a link between the Desert Mule Deer and the Rocky Mountain Mule Deer, are one of Mexico’s most rugged and scenic deer hunts. These mule deer are large-bodied but with smaller racks than their Sonora counterparts, although with dark antlers and heavy mass for the region. Mature bucks commonly score 140–150 B&C, with exceptional trophies exceeding the 160-class.

These deer inhabit the arid plains and rugged ridges of the Chihuahua Desert of Coahuila, offering hunters a physically challenging hunt in spectacular terrain. The thick brush and rocky slopes require spot-and-stalk, high-vantage glassing, and carefully positioned blinds along travel corridors and water sources.

The rut occurs in late December through February, with peak activity in mid to late January. During this time, bucks roam extensively in search of does, increasing the chances of encountering mature trophies.

This hunt provides the unique opportunity to harvest a few of Northern Mexico’s most sought-after trophies, in one of the most rugged but beautiful environments, where iconic species like Mexican bison and black bear still roam wild and free, sharing the land with authentic Mexican cowboys and their cattle.
