Summary & Highlights

The Central Plateau Whitetail Deer of Coahuila are some of the most coveted whitetails in northern Mexico. Smaller in body and trophy, from their cousins farther North, the Mexican Texanus Whitetail, bucks in this region average between 100–120 inches B&C, with many surpassing that each year.

Hunting them across the rugged desert mountains, mesquite flats, and rolling plateaus of Coahuila is both challenging and rewarding. The terrain allows hunters to glass ridges, canyons, and feeding areas, though mature bucks remain elusive and cagey. These deer are perfectly adapted to the arid climate, and patience behind the glass is often the key to success.

The rut typically begins in late December and runs through January, with peak activity in early to mid-January. During this period, bucks are highly visible as they chase does and cover large areas in search of receptive females. This is considered the prime window to target the largest and most mature trophies.

Our hunts combine spot-and-stalk, glassing, and blind setups over travel corridors and feeding areas. Because water is scarce in some zones, hunting near natural springs or man-made water sources can also produce excellent opportunities.

Beyond the hunt itself, Coahuila offers hunters a true northern Mexico experience—vast desert landscapes, authentic ranch hospitality, and consistently high-quality deer trophies that rival many found in the U.S.
