The Central American Whitetail Deer from the Yucatán are not only unique in appearance, but also one of the most challenging whitetails to hunt. Though smaller-bodied than their northern relatives, they carry beautiful chocolate-colored antlers with surprising mass and character and reddish coat.
Hunting them in the dense jungle of the Yucatán is a true adventure. These deer are masters of concealment, blending seamlessly with the thick tropical cover and often vanishing just a few steps away. During the rut, however, bucks become much more active as they chase does, making them more visible along openings, trails, and feeding areas.
The rut usually kicks off in December and peaks through February. Our hunts are typically a combination of spot-and-stalk, ground blinds along travel corridors, and ag fields—both highly effective in this region.
This is a challenging but rewarding hunt in a setting unlike any other—dense jungles, Mayan ruins, and the unique culture of the Yucatán combine with the pursuit of this elusive whitetail to deliver a truly world-class hunting experience.
